What Is Animal Osteopathy?

Osteopathic manual treatment is a drugless form of health care that involves gentle manipulation that aims to restore proper joint motion and neurovascular function. Increasing mobility from treatment is used to prevent injury as well as improve healing after injury. In addition, mobility reduces pain, and it aids in sports performance by improving gait patterns. The goal is to improve pets' quality of motion to live a happier and healthier life.

Can Osteopathic Manual Therapy Be A Replacement For Veterinary Care?

Osteopathic manual therapy for your pet is not a replacement for usual veterinary care, it can be a very effective addition to your vet’s treatment plan. Osteopathic manual therapy will not replace the possible need for surgery but it can help with compensatory changes because of the injury.

How Does It Work?

A program of care will be suggested that involves a series of treatments. Animals tend to recover quickly, however, every case is different. Factors such as the age of the animal, the job of the animal, the severity of the injury, and the duration of the problem will affect the amount of treatment necessary.
